AUCKLAND, April 1. The reason v/lxy an effort is beiiig made to oust Communists from the Auckland Trades Council at the annual elections on April 15, was outilned today in an official statement on behalf of a section of the trade unionists who have taken a stand against Communist infiltration. "The large majority of trade-, unionists are law abiding citizens," - says the statement. "If they think the law is bad they take constitutiohal steps to alter it, not break it. The section of the. Trades Council we are opposing makes no secret that their policy is that a- day to day struggle deteriuines tactics and *any weapon is good enough to win. Vilification, distortion' *aUd personalities are their method of debate. Controversial matters are placed last on the agen/la when delegates . from long distances have had to leave. ' They have two pet antipathies — (1) a Minister of the Crown and (2) the Laboiir Governrftent. We oppose all these methods because we believe, the tactics , pursued by the present *executive are not in thfe interests of the trade union movement." ... I f
