PROSPECTS OF SECONDARY PUPILS JEOPARDISED

AUCKLAND, March 31. ' The closing of the Auckland sehools was seriously jeopardising the prospects of pnpils in the higher forms in their studies for higher university entrance and other seholarships; most secondary school principals consider that sixth form pupils at least should be allowed to return to school. This was pointed ont to an ■ interviewer by the headmaster of the Seddon Memorial Teelinical College (Mr. H. M. Seott), who is ehairman of the local advisory committee on correspondence courses, and the RevT Bro. Leonard, the headmaster of the Saered Heart Collegd, 'who is ehairman of the Auckland Registered Sehools' Association. Both said they wonld like to see the sehools reopened. Mr. Seott said a recent meeting. of secondary school principals was most emphatie that the Government should be urged to allow all pupils over 16 years of age to return to school.
