WELLINGTON, March 31. ■ The, universal support aeeorded .to. national savings'- during the flnancial year ended Mareh 31, has been strtfcingly illustrated by every one of the" 352 quota towns exceeding its annual target for- the first time thereby eelip- •• sing all previous reeords, All parts of the Dominion contributed substantiaily to the outstanding suecess achievea and some towns oversubseribed their annnal objeetives by'as much as 600 per cent. Last year 301 annual quotas were attained. • It is of particular interest to note that. Ashburton, Cheviot, Hawera, tflunterville, New Plymouth and Weber have reeorded conseeutive, weekly quota successes for all of the 337 weeks which have elapsed since the quota scheme was inaugurated over six years ago. The national savings group movement has contiuued to flourish as evidenced by the esfablishment of 400 new groups and the opening of 18,000 new group aeeounts since April 1, 1947.
