Allen take pleasure in announcing the engagement of their fourth daughter, Phyllis Annie, to Archibald Stewart, only son of Mrs. I. M. Woollett and the late Mr. Woollett, of Levin. Ladies aLBowls Two rinks from the Shannon Women's Bowling Club journeyed; to Levin last week and reported a most . interesting afternoon; all speaking favourably of the hospitality reeeived. Representing Shannon were Mesdames D. Fitzgerald, C. M. Cronquest, Tricker and S. L. Graham, an'd Mesdames I. Peni, W. Clough, L. Wilson and D. Aitchison. Both games were won by the Levin prayers.. Lecture to Farmers . Arranged under the auspices of the Moutoa Young Farmers' Club, a lecture of interest to the farming community will be given by Mr. P. D. "Sears, of the Grasslands Division, Palmerston North, in the Moutoa Hall, commencing at 8 p.m. next Monday evening. The club extend an invitation to all interested persons t'o attend. The subject of the lecture will be "Autumn sowing and types of grasses and clover." Plunket Activity The local sub-branch of the Plunket Society is a very live bo.dy doing a splendid work in the community, and that the attendance of the nurse at the rooms every Thursday is much appreciated is proven by the large attendance of mothers and inf ants on that day. Mrs. L. Wilson, the president of the local sub-branch, is of the opinion that the district could have a much larger committee to assist with the successful running of the affairs of the branch. Cards Proving Pouular Although the weekly card tevenings conducted in Laurvig's Hall have heen very popular during the summer months, now that the evenings are hecoming cooler the attendance is growiiig. Last Friday evening the local branch of the Labour Party held its usual evening and the prize-'winners were ; Mesdames PicareLand Ropoama. On Monday" evening the POutu Maori Pah Committee was favoured by a good attendance in spite of the many counter attractions. Prizewinners were Mr, S. McLaggan ahd Miss K. Downes.
