Improved Lighting Wanted At Paraparaumu
^ Hopes for a considerable improvement in the street lighting and the telephone service at Paraparaumu weie expressed at the annuai meeting of the Paraparaumu Beach Progressive Association, held recently. Members reported that, with the assistance of the Beautifying Society, school children had planted many trees in the district. The Manly Street reserve had been cleaned, and swings had been installed there as well as in Bluegum Reserve, it was stated. It was noped that the Recreation Ground would be ready for the coming season. Other matters reported on were the installation of convenience' opposite the post office, cleaning up of the beach and approaches, and considerable improvements to the approaches to Manly Street bridge, McKay Street, and many other places. The .finances of the association were stated to be in a healthy condition. Eighty people were present at the meeting, over which Mr. F. W. Downs presided. A committee wa' appointed for the coming year, with Mr. Downs as president.
