AUCKLANB, March 31. Unless the staff position at the Veterans' Home improves, it was possible I the Home would have to be closed, saiu j Sir James Gunson, chairman of tlie j Auckland Veterans' Home Board. He emphasised the fact that no decision to close the Home had yct been made. j "Tlie Veterans' Hoinc is a voluntary institution and -without suffieient staff j it cannot carry on," said Sir James. j "We want to keep it open if we can. " 'j The stalf shortage was acute, he said. I There was no cook in the Home at j present. There was a great shortage | of housemaids and the matron was J doing the work which she had hot been | engaged to dc. Changes among the stalf ] were f requent.
