Levin Tennis Club's Activities
In the receht tournament conducted by the Southern Area- Coifimittee of the Manawatu .Lawn Tennis Association,- the winners . qf five even(s came from thev Levin Tennis Club. They were M. R. Smith (men's ' championship singles) and With A. H. Keeping, of Otaki (men's championship doubles), Miss Norma 'Hall (girls' championship singles), N. Parker (men's handicap singles), Miss Mary Karauti (ladies' handicap singles) and R. «Antcliff and Miss A. Hesp (handicap eombined doubles) . Other members were prominent right up to the finals in several of the events. The infcer-club committee has decided that the winners of a jnatch betweeh Leyin ,IB and Otaki IB shali be adjudged winners of the -• B grad'e conipetition. This game is to be played at:.I^.vin at 12.30 p.m. next Saturday. Both teams are so far undefeated. , Clubs may play off all other unplayed inter-club matches if they wish, but, owing to the late . start of the competition, the Christmas break, and the tournament, it was found impracticable to play off all matches as * or'iffinally sched'uled. The undefeated Foxton team has won the C gradd competition. Results of recent matches playedby Levin are; — Against Bulls for the Linklater Cup, Buils won by 13 sets to 11, proving too strong in the doubles matches, winning eight out5 of 12; against Johnsonville, Johnsonville Won 17 sets to 7. Inter-club matches: Levin JB beat Koputaroa 14 sets- to 2, tfie 2B team • beat Manakau 10 sets to 6, and lost to Otaki IB 5 sets to 11. The C grade team defeated -Te Horo by 12 J sets to 4.
