HASTINGS, Marcli 24. The pastures having beneiited little from the recent rains the few farmeis operating in the store slieep seetion at Stortford Lodge revealed little coulidence. The tiale was a dragging oue with all ciasses of slieep being quit on an easier market. Lambs went baeK by up to 3s a head and wethers and ewes were also clieaper. Generally, however, the market held its own on the weaker levels -rajing at Waipukurau yesterday. Eorward shorn wether lambs sold at 24s, small selling at 9d to 17s (id, good carfyover woolly wcther lambs 21s to 23s, cull ewe lambs out of the wool 17s, Down cross lambs in good order 22s 6d. Not for years has the beef entry beeu smaller than that of the 13 head olfered. The reasdn was tlie final day for killjng at ]the works. Medium ox sold at. £J 8, heavy heifer £17 ls, lighter made down to £13.. Little business was done in tlie store cattle section. Quitc a numbcr of farmcrs were in ttyc rostruiu but' inost of them seemed to bc there merely jto watch the-, market. .Good 3zoH ,A.A steers made £12 Gs and ohe-off A.A.. steers £9 4s.
