Softball Results The results of Saturday's games in the Horowhenua softball com-„ petition were as follows: Raukawa 31, Kimberley Diamonds A 15;* Kimberley Diamonds B 51, Wanderers 19. Rolston, of Arapaepap Road, Levin, following publication of a news item on Fri'day lkst giving outsizes which had been grown. The heaviest one then listed was 1 lb. 51 ozs.
Charges Of Desertion Two stoker mechanics from H.M.A.S. Australia,* Ordinary Seaman Edward Charles Hawthorne and Ordinary Seaman John Wilson Elmore, both aged 19, were tried by courtmartial on board ship yesterday on charges of desertion. Both pleaded guilty and were sentenced ' to one year's h'ard labour subject to confirmaticn* by the Australian. Naval Board. It was stated that they deserted at Port Chalmers. on I March 8 and were arrested together j by a police constable several daysj later. Anlarctic Weather Regular weather reports are to be flashed to New- Zealand frdm Macquarie Island, "in the Antarctic Ocean, v/here . two Australian jscientific ships are to establish a permanent base.
