Czech Bleat Does Not Amuse Massey
The Students' Association of Massey College is unanimous in- its con- • demnation of the action of the executive of Victoria University College in congratulating My. Gottwald on the setting up of his "democratic" government in Czecliosiovakia. "My association," says the president (Mr. G. B. Kissling) in a statement, "vsishes to dissociate itself from any inference that the message is representative of the feeling of the" students of the University of New Zealand. We congratulate the body at Victoria who are taking action against their executive. A university cannot afford t'o show political affili- , ations; least of all can it afford to .endorse the insidious actions of a foreign political party and call them democratic. ' ' The Victoria executive is now hacking down in the face of opposition and lightly passes off the mes- ■ sage as a product of its own facetiousness. If that is Victoria 's little joke Massey is not amused." ■>
