The New Zealand speeial investiga1 tion branch of the police sei/.ed coritra band valued at 8,000,000 yen (£40,0001 from two boats intercepted at Shomo noseki, Southern Ilonshu. Both vessels | carried Korean passengers who were l used as a blind to cover smuggling. - The New Zealanders in a second raid impounded a 20-ton boat which Svith the goods seized wUl be sold by the Japanese authorities. Seventy-seven Koreans and four Japanese will stand trial as a result of the New Zealand ers' work.
