WASTAGE OF ELECTRICITY
Electric WatetJReaterfe^p % *€« • - vLhw* « 7 .. - i > '■ J 4 . — - — r— ^ 'it V ; ij .. ^ vTlie . loss of/20Qhl>0j0pa« stmlts ^df electric power d^6h 'year (nearly the whole output of one out of two Karapiro generators iii operati'on) is officially attributed to inefficient thermal storage electric hot water services. It is now proposed to issue specifications, below which standard such services will not be connected by Power Boards. The purpose of these standards is two? fold, to conserve electric pewer and to ensure that consumers receive high efficiency in the services they pay for. Offlcial records show that electrie water heating uses approximately 36 per cent. of all units sold in the North Island even though only half the people have electric water heating. These official statements indicate that, but for the thousands of wasteful electric water heating services, there would be no need for the present and projected ; "cuts." Owners of electric hot water services are therefore in a position to help more' than anyone else in relieving the "cuts." Their ;thoughts will naturally turn to the well-known "Zip" organisation which has water heating specialists in ever-y town in New Zealand ready to give advice and service. This Zip Heaters organisation has specialised in Electric Water Heaters and Services for over fifteen years*, and guarantees any heater supplied by it in that time to be •better than would be given by the proposed minimum standard." Those who are not fortunate enough to have a full electric hot water service can also assist by substituting for their jugs, pots and pans, one of the famous, small, economical Zip Kitchen " Water Heaters .which hang . on fche Wai! •and plug into the ironing point. — Advt.
