Would Fight Move To Reduce Petrol Ration
DUNEDIN, March 18. The chairman of the North Island Motor Union (Mr. Ii. W. Itoydhouse j, spealcing at the half-yearly meeting of the South Island Union today, said that so far as he eould ascertain there was not likely to be axiy alteration in the faee value of coupons ' during the coming winter. If, however, any proposal for a reduction were put forward .the union would fight the suggestioxx with all the power at its disposal. On the motion of Mr. I. V. Wilson (Invercargill) it was nnanimously resolved that no further aetion be taken in the matter of petrol rationing in the nieantime. A proposal that all applieations for speeial alloeations of petrol for business pnrposes should be "dealt with by local advisory committees as ,was the case d uring the war was made by Mr. C. W. Browne, jiresident of the Automobile Association of South Canterbury. The suggestion was nnanimously adopted by the -meeting and it was resolved to mahe a request to the Oil Fuel Gontroller for the adoption of this policy.
