Shannon Footballers Hold Annual Meeting
The annual general meeting ,of the Shannon Football Olub was heid on Thursday evening;'' There was a goo;d attendance of; members, intending menibers ahd supporters of.the olub. Mr. A. Gillespie, the presideiit, extended ja welcome to th.osev pres.ept and^'.jSta/lied ' that he was ve'ry ' pleased t'o see such a large gathering. ./ 1 Mr. Gillespie intimated. that the coming season had every. indication of being a good one for the local club. As he was • not. seeking reelection to the offi.ce of presiderit, he extended hig sincere thanks;to all thos'e who hdd ■'\Vorked so- WilUngly in the intefests of the club, and to those whose' co-operation had made the duties of the president such a p-leasant one.Mr. W. Moynihan extended the •thanks of the club to Mr. Gillespie for the many years he had been .associated with local football, and ; expressed the hope * that his Ser- • vices would not altogether be lost to the club. Mr. V. J. Bateman endorsed Mr. Moynihan's remarks. . The officers for the coming year vvere elected as -follows: — Patrpn: Mr. W. Moynihan; .president: Mr. A. Jeffrey; vice-presidents : Messrs. T. Kohika, H. Currap arid L. Coulteif;. treasurer: Mr. R. Vi.nsen; auditor: Mr. V. J. Bateman; committee:N Messrs. C. Mortimer, . N. Callftsen. E. Gadsbv. T. Npwton. R.
Chester, j. Lucinsky and D. Cole, Junr.; club captain^ Mr. C. Mortimer. On the motion of Mr. R. Sands, the appointment of a secretary was left to the management committee. The coaches were appointed as follows: — Senior: Mr. C. Mortimer; junior: Mr. F. Callesen; third grade: Mr. T. Kohika; fo.urth grade: Left to management committee. It was resolved that the subscriptions be, senior 7s 6d, junior 5s and third and fourth grade 2s 6d, all subsqriptions being plus 2s -6d for insuranqe. .. •The-delegates to the Horowhenua Rugby Union' were appointed, they being Me'ssrs.
