Criticism Of Bus Service To Levin
It belie-ved that the bus service between Otaki and Levin was not in the best inter.ests of Otaki, said a letter from the Otaki Commerciai Association received at a meeting of the Otaki Borough Council on Wednesday night. The association maintained that the service was unnecessary, entailed an unwarranted use of motor spirit when - -conservation was 'desired and encouraged residents of Otaki to shop in Levin ta the 'detriment of Otaki business. - The train service was suitable for those wishing to travel, continued 'the letter. The association suggested that the Railway Department would join in an objection to the renewal of the bus service licence by the Transport Licensing AuthoriLy. The council was asked to join in making representations to the authority in regard to the matter.
Tne firm operating the service had been requested to make better arrangements for residents of Tasman Beach and Rangiuru to give them more shopping time in Otaki, but no response had been received, concluded the association's letter. . The council decided that the matter was one in which it- could not take any acbion.
