COMMUNISTS WILL DEFY GOVERNMENT.
Received Wednesday, 10.40 p.ra. BRISBA.NE, Marcli 10. The Trades Hall Disputes Conlmittec has decided to-day to defy the Govern ment's new Anti- Strike Bill. C'om-munist-led pickets at the- Shell oil degot at Bowen Hills thi^. morning made a last-minute effort to defy the police before the new Anti-Strike Bill became law, but the Shell workers completeiy ignored the pi'ckets who dispersea ifter police reinforcements were rushed to the scene. - The Trade Hall Disputes Committee's decision to defy the Anti-Sfcrike JSill means picketing will continue. Branches throughout the State have been advised that if pickets are arrested they should go ..quietly untii every gaol is filled. Police headciuarters has -brought in reinforcements from the country and every policeman in Brisbane will be on duty at 6 o'clock to-morrow morning. The Disputes Committee to-day declared the new anti-strike measure was the most vicious ever taken against the trade union movement in Australia. It said it would call on the assistance of the whole of the trade union movement to defeat the Act and compel its withdrawal.
