Iteeeived Tuesday, 8 j>.m. CANBERRA, Mar. 9. The Royal lour of Australia will start from Sydhey v in March. It will probably last from ten weeks to three moiiths and AVest Australia will be the last State visited. It seems eertain that Australia will be visited ai'ter the Royal 'tonr of New Zealand. Plans for the tour were discpsscd today at a conference called by Mr. Chifley. He aiinouneed later that the Minister of Muhitions (Senator Armstrong) will be Minister in charge of the Royal visit and tliat . if necessary he will visit Eng'land to discuss detaiJs of the tour with Buekiugham Palace officials. There is.no prospect of Mr, Chifley ' himself going- to London for this purpose. The State Covernments have been asked to appoint a special minister or official to co-cfperate with the (.omrnonwealth which is awaiting details i'roin London beI'ore commencing- work 011 the Australian prog'ramme. Serious aceotninodation problems are expected to be encountered, particularly in Canberra. Lieutenant-deneral F. H. Berryman, (I.O.C., Eastern (■omniand, has been appoinled director of the Royal tour' oi' .Australia. No de■finite itiiierary .has yet been drawn upt but tentative proposals envisage that their Majesties will travel in the Vanguard via Banama. Ai'ter a tour of New Zealand in
late February which is expected to last about 16 days, the Royal party will come to Sydney and on to Canberra from where their tour will begin.
