Junior Chamber Holds Third Annual Meeting
The Levih ifunior Chamber of Commerce held its third annual meeting last night. Guests of tlie everiing were. the* president of the Palmerston North Junior Chamber Mr. J." Cheek, the vlce-president, Mr. J. Sherwin, a board member, Mr. D. Lynch, and the national ditector, also - of Palmerston • North; Mr. 0. Gear. ; ' 1 In accordance With the constitution of the chamber, the president, Mr. D( J. Sweetzer, retired from the bffice, and also six board members, -Messrs R. A. Frederikson, C. M. Wallace,. H. Pliihmer, R. Antcliff, J. Miller . ahd N. Thornley, leaving Messrs C, B. .Grehawayl J. Barrat and J. W. Lynch .as sitting membei'S. The following officers were then elected: — President: Mr. N. ThoiTiley; seei'etary: Mr. G. H. Sorehson; auditor: Mr, H. B. Burdekin; additions to board: Messrs R. Antcliff (re-elected), J. Miller (re^elected), N. D. Tilley, R. Long, W. G. Phih lips, and T. "A. Kerslake. AS immediate paSt president, Mr. SWeetzer was also elected to the boai'd. - During discusiori it Was mentioned that there was 'a possibility of the 1949 world congress of J.C.'s being held in the Dominion, prob- ; ably in Wellington. It was also decided that the sUbscriptions for the year "oe faised' Jrom 25s to 30s nett as additional expense might occur next year if ■the wofld congress was held in the. Dominion and Levin was called on i to assist in the entertainment' " of the overseas delegates. • ... Prior to tlie closing of the meeting, Mr. Sweetzer thanked ' the Palmerston North representatives for'their attendance. Gn behalf of the visitors, Mr. Check suitably replied. ^
