VvELLI'NGTON, March «. , The appointment of a trihunal to settle the carpenters' dispute was proposed to the Prime Minister • (Mr. Fraser) and Mr. McLagan representmg the Government by the National Executive of the New Zealand Federation oi Labour to-day. The Government's reply is expected to-morrow. The 3National Executive of the. Federation met •this morning with Mr. R. Stanley, secretary of the Ne.w Zealand -Carpenters' Union, attending. The f ollowing resolution was adopted and suhmitted to" the Government in the afternoon^ — ' ' That the National Executive of tne Federation of Lahour approach the Government • urging a settlement of tne disphte on the f ollowing hasis: 1, That the carpenters'. go-slow policy cease immediately and normal working concutions prevail; 2, that no further summonses he issued; 3, that a trihunal be set up under the Strike and Lockout Eniergency Regulations to determine the matters in dispute; 4, that the Carpenters', Union accept the decision oi . such a trihunal as flnal and hinding. ' ' The secretary of the Federation (Mr. K. McL. Baxter), in announcing the executive's' proposals, said it was expected that the Government's repiy would he available to-morrow.
