Bowling Tournament On Otaki Green

A tournament for members of the Otaki Bowling Club, for trophies kindly donated by Mr. Delamonte, was playe'd on Saturday, when eleven rinks competed on a keen green and in glorious weather. The final was between rinks skipped by W. Wilson and J. Horn, the former winning on a pl&y-off. Some good bowling was witnessed. The full results were as follows: Wilsoh- and Horn, tliree wins each; Baker, Merwood, Kearns, Eaton and Southgate, two each; Pike and Grey, one each; Robertson and McGilligan, nil. At the eonclusion of the games Mr. J. D .Avery presented the trophies, thanked Mr. Delamonte for his generosity and congratulated the winners on their success. Pennant Match A game was played on Saturday at Paraparaumu for the Mexted Cup, when Otaki Railway scored a win by the narrow margin of one point. 1 " Rinka For 'Wednesday The following will represent Otaki against Waikanae, at Waikanae, on Wednesday, cars leaving the green at 1.15 p.m.: Gow; Whitelaw, Barron, Buxton, Kendrick, Young, Drew and Hurrell. Mexted Cup Match Otaki Railway defeated Paraparaumu by 74 points to 73 in a Mexted Cup match on Saturday. The results were as follows, Railwaybeing mentioned first: Booth lostto Young 20—23, Webster lost to Brown 15—21, Cahill beat Davidson 24 — 14, Symonds beat Blythe 19 — 15. Coxon Rose Bowl A very enjoyable day was spent on the Railway green yesterday, when six rinks from the Castlecliff Club (Wanganui) attended to play for the Coxon Rose Bowl. Of the six games played, Otaki Railway won four and Castlecliff two. Prior to the game Mr. A. Watt, vicepresident -of the club, in the absence of the president, extended a warm welcome to the visitors.* At the eonclusion of play the rose bowl was handed over amidst applause, the. visitors warmly coJmplimenting; mm , Railwc^ ! bn their play and thknking them' for the hospitality extended. ! ;
