WELLINGTON, March 5. Silence was 'impbsed . by the poiice oh a demonstration "by workers half an hour -after it began at 1 10 a.m'. today outsi'de the Magistrate's Court. At .the time ''300 or 400 men were being' harangued through a lodd speaker on a motor-car in the street. A han was issued because Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., in . an upstairs room adjourned his court -because he was unable to hear the oproceedingsv o'n account of the din i outside. He said he would adjourn [until the noise subsided. "When this information was con- ! veyed to the Poiice Superinten'don't, jMr. Dempsey, he inrormed ' "the jman who was in charge of the ioud speaker that the noise would have to cease. The noise; ceased and many of the onlodkers. drjfted .away. y The demonstration was an extremely niild one, with a very occasional ' cheer "and a rare and muted boo or twb. Shortly before' 11.30 the silence rule was remoVed and the loud speaker resounded again. A motion, demanding among other thin'gs that the Government repeal 'all anti-strike legislation, was carrie.d ,with cheers.
