Large Fire Threatened State Forest
MASTERTON, March 2. After working all night volunteers had under eontrol this morning, a fire in' the Education reserve at Mauriceville West which threatened the State forest nearby. A large area of standing and fallen dead timber was burned out. The Catchment Board, State Forest Serviee, Masterton Fire Brigade and Mauriceville County Council and Public Works Department, copperated to fight the fire. Three fire fighters had their eyes treated at the Masterton Hospital thismorning for injuries eaused by the intense heat, smoke and flying ash driven b y a high win d . 1
