There was a fine field of sixteen for the Woodville Handicap on Saturday and the winner was Selas which finished wide ont on the course to beat another Hawke's Bay horse, Catt.erick. Bridge, by.half a length,, and The Stormovik rau a great .race t.o- be .third two.. lengths away from Catterick Bridge, then came Foxella, which...: had been in front into the straight, Sorrel and. The Big Handicap. W.elcome Guest, The Stormovik, FoxeJla and Lady Delight were promment early in the Woodville Handicap and Selas, undef a nice hold, was in behind them as they ran past the stapds. The pace was sound and it was as they were running to the three tliat. Foxella went into the.lead to show the way into the hoine stretch. Welcome Guest was still there at the three and next were Lady Delight, The Stormovik, Master Baron, Sorrel, Selas, Catterick Bridge' and Barrage. They were not far into the straight before Catterick Bridge moved np to challenge Foxella and The Stormovik and a furlong from home Selas ranged up on the outer. Selas iinished best and won by half a length from Catterick Bridge two lengths in front of The Stormovik. Glad Fox Beats Master Gary. • Master Gary, Ncwel Bost and Sergeant Jack were the favou rites for the Highweight, but the winner was Glad Fox at over a score narrowiy from Master Gary with Beneve in thLrd place aheail of Nevvel Post. They were all in the pieture at tlie home taru and over the last bit, Glad Fox and Master Gary fonght a grand battle, Glad Fox winning by a neck. Beneve looked likely a iurloug from liopie, but he weakened into third place two lengths away from Master Gary. Nevvel Bost was elose up fourth and Sergeant Jack, which had been last bnt oue early and seeond iuto tlio straight, and Gynerio and Monito were Ln line next. Belle Mignonne and Lady Myrtle. The Maiden Plate was run in divisious, Belle JMiguoune winnipg ihe lirst narrowiy from Uolden Hope, and Lady Myrtle winning the seeond easily from ! Karamea. Belle Mignonne ixaid nearly a score for a win and Karamea just under a score for a place. ln the iirst division, Golden Hope and Equitare showed the way into tlie straight ahead of Knight's Lass, Phoenicia, Gaiubari and Grcon Valley. Golden Hope appeared to lia've the race won a furlong from home, but Belle Mignonne* fiuished fast aleng the railsi to win by a half head. Phoenicia was two lengths away foflowed by Kquitare. ln tlie seeond division, Karamea led inlu the straight attended by lioscareu and Lady** Myrtle, Fluctuation. Ensig-n and Master Crusoe and Lady Myrtle tlien went to tlie front and won as she liked by three lengths from Karamea half a length in front of Gay FelJow. Master Crusoe was l'ourth. Win for Blue Seal. ' There was a great iinish to the two-year-old race and- the winner, Blue Seal, seored "l»y a length from Biue Spee, Vadoz, Cho.ppy and Leynia. which were at hali'-head intervhls. BJue Seal and Ofympia led into the straight closely attended by Choppy, lventucKy Fliglit, BJue Spee, Leynia and Vadoz. and Blue Seal never looked lilte stoppitxg. 11c won w ell, but there was a tliriliing race for seeond money for which Blue Spee beat Vadoz by half a head. Petre Mar Was Never Headed. Petrc Mar led from end .to end iq, the Ruahine Handicap and Iinished briiliantly to win by two lengths from Veine d 'Or a head in front of Specialist. Deprive, Castlebrae, Playboy and Cotcase were almost in line with the third horse. The race was run at a fast clip and Petre Mar led into the straight closely attended by Keorapa, Specialist, Veine d'Or, Castlebrae and Playboy. Petre Mar was hot in danger of defeat in tlie run home, but there was a blanketUuish for seeond. Langspiel Stuck 'cai Well. After being in third place earlv and iifth place at the three, Langspiel Jan past Garry and Follow Suit, earlv in the run home and stuck on gamely to beat Follow Suit bv a length. False Step, slow to Jeave the mark, iinished fast into third place a. length away from Follow Suit, and Blue Pier, another to iinish well, was only a head further back. Next were Yalta, Abbey Duke, llxemplary and Bonnie Fair. Paper Ruffle Paid a Price. Paper Buil'le led always in the Presideut;s Handicap and won by two lengths from Laclcamor which stuck on gaiueiy ' to beat the fast-iinishing lvumari by half a head. Fairytime anu Imprint followed at head intervals. Paper liuil'le was well elear running to the straight and Laekamor, Fairytime, Imprint, Kumari, and Salient were next. Paper Buil'le did not stop, but there was a great race for the minor plaees and it was over the last bit that Kumari headed Fairytime and Imprint for third half a head away from Laekamor. Earnbridge Was Brilliant. Earnbridge iiiiished brilliantly to Win the Kumeroa Handicap by two lengths from Cuiloden Moor and Foxtonian was third just in front of Meteorina which had not been hdppily placed at the three. Super Lake and Mine Host, Danciug Girl and Bright Flash were in front [tussing the stands and Master Gary went to the front at the six. Gay Bport'xnovcd up at the five and Dancing Girl led into the straight followed 1>\ Master Garv, Foxtonian, Cuiloden kloor, Gay Sport and Earnbridge. Cuiloden iloor was in front' and under a hard ride a furlong from home, and Earnbridge iinished brilliantly and won going away.
