Goulding in the Magistrate's Court today in sentencing to one month's imprisonment, seven seamen who pleaded guilty to desert'ion from the Atlantis. The Magis-1 trate added that the position had reached one of wholesale desertion and fchat the maximum penalty of a month 's imprisonment was no deterrent in stopping ship desertions. All accused admitted in Court that they had made up their minds .to desert and- formed plans -while travelling on the ship to New Zealand. •,
