P.N. Boy Claimed Youngest Pilot In North
On Tuesday a report T^om Blenheim claimed that Patricia; aged 17 years. was New Zealaud's youngest girl pilot. Testerdav Palmerston North came near to matching this when Peter Corrie, 17 years aiid one week, flew> solo in one of the Middle Districts Aero .Club 's Tiger Moths. Chief tnstructor to the elub, Wing Commander P. W. Morrish, sent Peter off on his first solo during the afteruoon and was- so pleaised udth the following landing that he sent liim round again to have another try. The result was as. good, if not better. than the first attdmpt. Wing Commander Morrish considers that Peter' must be the youngest pilot in the North Tsland, Just missing the distinction for- New Zealand by live days. Peter has five hours flying to-do before attaiiiing his licence. 'A.T.C. Flying. The course of A.T.C. cadets at present in training with the Middle Dis- • tricts Aero Glub are in the final stages of their training. Their course eoyers 30 'hours ' flying altogether, 10 of which are solo. Their ptogress has been very satisfactory, according to the' club's chief ihstructor,. ......
