GOOD FIELDS FOR WOODVILLE TOMORROW
WELLINGTON, February 20. Racegoers will have plenty to hold their interest tomorrow with meetings at Woodville, Hawera, Waikato, Gore and Westland and the finals of the Inter-Donunion Trotting Championships at Epsom and the New Brighton Trots. Main interest will centre at Woodville, the nearest fixtura to this district, where the fields are of particularly good dimensions. The Egmont Clwb's first day will mark the opening of the Taranaki circuit. Form for both meetings has been well disclosed recently, but of late it has been rather difficult to follow.
The ' WQodville Handicap has attra.cted a good field of good middle-distance gallopers, the most notable at the top of .the weights being Gay Stroller, who should greatly improve with the outing he had in the Wanganui Cup. It was his first race since being galloped on at the .Manawatu meeting at Christmas. He is likely to be in keen demand and is expected to give a good accojint of himself. While his con'dition lasted Welcome Guest piloted the Earle Stakes field at Wanganui into the straight and with that race to freshen him up Welcome Guest is likely to finish more solidly tomorrow. Although he failed at Wanganui Prince Wanaka, who won the Pahiatua Cup last month, is well placed to make amends for Wanganui failures. He has been working • attractively at Awapuni. Although he failed over a mile and a-quarter on the concluding day at Wanganui, Selas will not find the opposition so strong tomorrow. The Stormovik will appreciate the distance and on recent form must be respected. He is likely to carry strong support. Sorrel might fin'd the company beyond her although she will not be troubled by the distance. Barrage disappointed at Wanganui, but he should not be discarded, as he is always likely to "bob up" when unexpected. The Ruahine Handicap should see Deprive at a short price. He has been working well at Otaki and being a claSs sprinter should hold an excellent winning chance. Possessing a brilliant turn of spee'd Petre. Mar, who won so well among the sprinters at Wanganui, may be the one to keep Deprive busy. Findon might need the race, but Playboy should be an improver and racing on his home track he is likely to be prominent at the right end. Cot-case has good form on the East Coast, but Reorapa has been a big disappointment this season. Specialist is always a prospect. The Egmont Cup presents Silver Treasure with a chance to make, amends for recent failures, while others with good prospects are , Tenor Royal, Embrolita and Loyal Bian. If he repeats his Trentham form Tenor Royal will prove a tough propositioii. Recent form points to Aggrava- • tion being the harde'st proposition in the Flying Handicap at Egmont. Her strongest opposition will come from Morning Dew, Cressida, Theocritus and Park Royal. Prospects for Woodville, Egmont, Waikato and the two trotting fixtures are:
