Mr. and Mrs. Whitcomb, of Matene Street, Otaki," are; celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary today. The wedding was solemnised by the Rev. Sidney Phillips in St. Mary's and All Saints' Church, Ki'dderminster, England. • • _ ... They came to New Zealand with their infant daughter in 1906 ajid Mr. Whitcomb was employed by the Wellington Gas Company, where he remained for many years. Mr. Whitcomb was a fdundation member of the Gas Workers' Union and its sick benefit society. He has always taken an interest in friendly society matters, and joined the Foresters' Court. The couple have had 11 happy years of retirement in Otaki. Both are garden lovers, and their home ;is a picture of beauty and order. | Their daughter is now Mrs. E. ! Annabell, of Brooklyn, and there are two grandchildren, Valerie and Audrey. | As Mrs. Whitcomb is not in the best of health, the celebration will be a quiet one.
