Otaki School Committee's Request To Minister
A decision by the Otaki School Committee to approach the Mihister of Education regarding the provision of a dental clinic and swimming bath at the school was commented on by the chairman of the Wellington Education Board, Mr, N. R. Seddon, at a meeting of the board yesterday. ' According to a published report, he said, the committee had taken this action because of alle.ged dissatisfaction with the progress made in the matter by the board. Tenders had been called for the erection of a clinic several times, j but none had been received, he | added. The board had been advised that the Building Controller would not give a permit for the use of cement and steel /in- such works as swimming pools. "Other schools have been held up for their swimming baths," said Mr. Seddon, "to many instances their applications have been in several years before Otaki's." t 1 The board , had no call to worry about the committee's action in going to the Minister, he added. He hoped the Minister would ask the board to be represented when the proposed deputation from the school committees waited on him regarding various matters concerning Otaki School and neighbouring sohools.
