Australia Is Not Sending A Cruiser To Falklands

Received Thursday, 11.45 a.m. CANBERRA, Feb. 19. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. B. Chifley, stated that Australia had not considered sending a cruiser to the Falkland Islands but if such a suggestion was made it would be considered by the Government. Mr. Chifley made this statement when attention had been drawn to a reported statement by a spokesman of the Department of External Affairs that: "Australia was not concerned in any way in events aifecting British Sovereignty in the Falklands."
