Extension Of Water Supply To Ohau
A proposal that the Levin water shpply uhdertaking should be extended to embrace Ohau township came in for further consideration at this month's meeting o'f the Levin Borough Council. The works committee reported that members for the W'hirokino Riding of .the Horo whenua County Council had waited" on it to discuss the subject following receipt, by the cpUnty council of a petition from 2? residents of the township. The committee recommended that pendihg the ohtaining o'f expert professional advice' Ch the capacity of the existing supply to catry the. additional load, the counCil Was not prepar ed to extend the Uhdertaking to: 'Ohau, if , howeVer, the 'cotmty council was pfepared sto meet 50. per. cent. of the cost of obtai-ning -an engineer's repott a§ to how the supply could be iniproWd to meet the request, the borough Council was prepared to ofctain such >a report. The council deferred a 'decision oh the subject until its %'ril meeting, prior to which the Woi'kS committee would be, considering 'the whole miestion of 'the water supply undertaking.
