Goldie Painting Sold For £450 At Auction
AUCKLAND, Feb.. 16. A painting by the famous New Zealand artist, C. E. Goldie, was solfl hv auction at Parnell for £450/ A study of the Maori chiof Te Aho-o-te-Rangi, Wharcpu, it- was offered for auetio.n ; with other household off'ect.s and was bouglit by an Auckland woman. The painting, which measured about 2ft (iin square, caused nnich interest among bidders who began at £300. The x.iiiject of the painting was one of the last surviving Maori chiefs who fought in the .Maori wars against the English and died in 1911.
