Refusal Of Street Day To Levin R.S.A.
Concern at the Levin Borough Council's refusal of a street day to the Levin branch of the(R.S.A. for collecting money to send food parcels to Britain was expressed in a letter from its president, Mr. N. M. Thomson, reeeived at the monthly meeting of the council last night. If the council could not see its way to give the branch a day, added the letter, then -it would" have to apply for a share of the. funds from the Mayor's appeal in aid of Britain; There were other ways of raising funds than by street days alone, commented tho Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin; If the R.S.A. could not send its qiiota of parcels to Britain each month without the proeeeds of a street day, then it should "back down and leave the matter in more eapable hands," remarked Cr. D. J. Sweetzer. '
