Rangi's Repairs Will Be Costly Project
Received Monday, 11.20 a.m. , SYDNEY, Feb. 16. The Rangi's skipper, Mr. Mark Anthony, says that repairs to the Rangi will cost several hundred pounds. Ue hopes to have repairs done in Syclney and will then probably sail back to Ne-w Zealand. Mr. Anthony says his experi^nce has convinced him that cutters are unsuitable for long voyages. The ideal yacht was a ketch. Mr. Anthony said that when the Rangi arri'ved off Sydney on the night of' February 2,- he had hea^ded south because he mistook the heads for the entrance to N'ewcastle. "We are sorry we caused so much troubie but it was not our fault. We thought the other yachts might have been delayed and damaged as much as we were, in the cyclone, Until we accept.ed the tow we thought we would win the handicap section. For all we knew some others might have .decided .to withdraw or use their engines. We were snr-prised to hear^ that the R.A.A.F. were looking for us." Hundreds motore(d from Sydney to Kiama yesterdayto see the Rangi.
