Mr. Ian Morton, of the- Bank of New Zealand staff, has received notice of his transfer to. .Helensville and leaves for his hew .quarters on Tuesday. Mr. Morton, who is a very popular young man, ,will be mi^sed from Otaki, where he has been eonnected with various sports bodies. As a worker he was most efficient. Street Day The Otaki Women's Division and Women's Institute will .combine in holding a street day on February 20 to raise funds for 'the Mission to Seamen. " A generous response to the appeal is sought. Appeal By Churches The appeal made by the Angliean Churches in this district to help feed German children resulted in £13 5s being collected. Among the subscriptions was one from •■Anonymous" (Viti) of £5, Houses Wanted 1 , For some considerable time the Otaki Borough Council has endeavoured to get more State house's for Otaki. It has now decided to write to the Minister of Housing asking whether 'any contracts had yet been let for the building of more State houses in Otaki. Shop Days Applied For -At a meeting of the Otaki Borough Council on Wednesday night, an application was received from the Otaki Miniature Rifle Club for permission to conduct a shop day at Otaki and Otaki Railway on March 12" the proceeds to go to its building fund. All Saints' Ladies' Guild sought permission to hold a street day on April 23 for its aid to Britain fund. Both applications were granted.
