Manufacturers Seeking Export Trade
AUCKLAND, Feb. 12. Tke irtvm'ediate. necessity of reopening and extending export trade in the Pacific, was urged in a rem.it passed at the annual conference of the New Zealand Manufactnrers' Association, ■itates a report issued by the federation todav. Delegates -held that every faeiiity should be given to New Zealand industry- to increase, wherever possible, business with the Pacific islands where there should be a first rat e marlcet for N&w Zealand goods, if the (iovernnient would cooperate. Another remit urged that representations should be ma.de to the authorities to negotiate for some vessels now in service between the United States and Australia, to mahe regular calls at New Zealand. Concerning export trade generallv, delegates stated that the Government appeared to suspect any manufaetured goods- made from imported raw material and manufacturers had the greatest difficultv in convincing the Government that New Zealand conld open up ■i substantial export trade immediately. A remit was pa.ssed urging the encouragement of export trade.
