A 10-yoar-eld Iife.saver, Ronald lohnson, was mauled to death by i 12-ioot shark olL Stockton Beach near .Xeweastle. todav. .Tohnson was horribly wounded and died 10 minutes •ifter lieing taken ashore by a clubmale who heroieally ruslied to his rescue. ■lohnson was swinuuing about 40 yanls out m six feet of water witli a grou]) of clubuiates when the shark struck. Joiinson was stili conscious when a elubmate reached him and earried him ashore. A doctor was inimediately summoned but Johnson • lost so mueh blood .that he died shortly after. Shnrks are more numerous in Sydney and XewcaHtle waters this summer than i'or several years.
