STEADY DEMAND AT WESTFIELD
AUCKLAND, Feb.- 11. •Sheep were penned in less than average numbers at the Westfield fat stock sale but there was a keen de mand and values which were down lasl week improved by 2s to 3s a head. There were fewer lambs than last week and they also sold readily with values ver> lirm. Beef was ofTered in large numbers. There was a steady demaud with values easing on last week by 15s to £1 a. head. Quotations were 2s a ll)()lbs: lower. An average varding of calves c'ame forwanl and values for good quality sorts were a sliade iietter. lTnfinished and bobby calves were liard to sell bocause freezing wofks'buyers were not operatiiig during the present hold--Up. There was a smaller varding of pigs. Pork prices were (irmer. Bacon sold freely aud stores remained at recent quotations.
