U.N. Will Work On Partition Despite Resistance
Received Thursday, 10.10 a.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 11. He was determitied to do'everyLhfng possible to carry out the Pal7 estine partition in the face of the growing Arab resistance, said the Secretary-General of. the United Nations, M. Tryguve Lie, today. He added that he had made this clear to Britain in a recent private conference with the Minister of S'tate, Mr. Hector McNeil. An advance mission of four United Nations officials and two r.ecretaries would ,go to Palestine soon to begin nego'tiations with the British Governmentf there on the partition plans. He said he did not know what lfolicy the United States intended to_ follow when the Security Gouncil took up the question of sending an international force to Palestine to maintain order during the Partition. "I do not know what any governments will do," he said.
