Cemetery Maintenance A grant towards the •maintenance of the Shannon cem-etery was sought in a letter from -the Shannon Borough Couhcil. ent work was desired, any financial ■ assistance the county could grant - would be much appreciated. •The request was referred to Crs. Liggins and Aitchison for a report to the council. Loadings On Bridgeg The Transport Department forwarded a copy of an amendment to the Heavy Motor VJehicle Regula-, tions under which the council would be abl'e to" effect weight restrictions on bridges on th-e certificate of a registered engineer. The meeting decided to demolish the building and to advise the wf iter accordingly. Unsightly Ridge Of Spoil In view of the Tokomaru School's fiibilee celefirations 011 May 1, the Tokomaru School Committee wrote asking if the council would level the unsightly ridge of drainage spoil in front of the school. •The " ridge was an eyesore, remarked .Cr. Liggins. The removal of -it wopld not be a lafge jpb and be thgught it should be under - taken. Tfie . request was referred to Cr. Mr. Hudson told the meeting that the next step was to make the plan of the proposed distriet available for one month to anybne iyrho wjshed to inspect it .and' raise oBjectfpns. After that the council could ^take "the necessary steps to have the area constituted a drainage distriet. , However, before that was done he thought the plan should be submitted to the Manawatu Catchment Board and obtain its views on the matter. The clerk's suggestion was adopted by the meeting.

General Matters Permission to place a small pump house at the first bridge on the South Manakau Road was requested in a "letter from Mr. R. L. Bevan. The water to- his property had been cut off, he said, and this was the only way .he could get a supply to his stock. Cr. Atkins reporteefi, that, with .Cr.
