Women's Division First Meeting Of Year

. The opening meeting for 1948 of the W.D.F.F, was held on Monvi^y Mrs. L. H. Best presiding. It was decided that an account of' the restrictions, the February Dahlia ghow would not be held. The housekeeping ' secretary,; ■ ' Mrs. Guerin, advised that she had several calls for housekeepers and asked that anyone knowing the .persons available to act as such to contact her. Mrs. Guerin stated that over the holiday period more than £30 worth of parcels had been dispatched to Britain and "while afternoon tea was being served by the bostesses, Misses Allerby and Roberts, seven letters of thanks for gift parcels were read. Two of these were from widows with children of miners who had lost their lives in a colliery disaster and an especially long letter was from a London lady surgeon. She wrote. of how each article reeeived was used or passed on to a deserving case. All recipients were grateful -and looked forward to the added help these , gifts of food would be to the Christmas fare. For the March meeting all members are asked to bring a plate as a compliment- to • Miss P. Allerby whose Avedding takes place in April and' those who can, are asked to come in the morning to pack parcels for Britain. Please advise the secretary in time for dinner arrangements to be made.
