Some Garages Start Own Petrol Rationing
WELLINGTON, Feb. 11. A strict rationing of petrol will be adopted by each of the seven Wellington eastern suburbs service stations after Monday. Described as an effort to "see that each motorist gets a fair allowance," the scheme, which has the approval of the Oil Fuel Authorities, entitles only motorists of the eastern district to supply. . The weekly allocation for large cars is three gallons, for small cars two gallons and for . motor cycles half a gallon. Those enrolled at the eastern stations will be issuea with cards giving details of the car and the name and address of the car's owner. The cards will be clipped •each time a gallon is drawn. One Northland service station has employed coupon rationing since the end of January.
