Bradman To Retire After Next Tour
• " MELBOURNE, Feb. 6. Australia 's greatest bat'sman and Test captain, Don Bradman, aniiounced today tliat he would retire from firstclass cricket "after tlj.is year's tour of England. Bradman, who is now 3.9, said he would accept the captaincy of the Australian team to tour - Engiand. this year. His appearance in the fifth Test against Tndia, beginning today, will be his last in ffrst-class cricket in Austra Ha. Bradman said he had told the Australiau selectors of his decision. He added; "I am reluctant to lin'dert'ake another tour at my age. It wiil be a heavy responsibility, but I will uildertake the responsibility if I aiii asked to tour Engiand. I feel that this would be my last opportunity to be of serviee to the game, which has played such a big part in my. life. " Bradman began his Test cricket career in Brisbane in the first Test against Engiand in 1928-29. He hhs broken practically every cricket record and has made 37 double eynturies in firstclass cricket.
