THURSDAY AND FRIDAY "The Killers," Ernest Hemingway story from which Mark Hellinger produced the picture with ■Burt Lancaster, Ava Gardner and Edmond O'Brien, is regarded as one bf the writer's best efforts in the fehort fiction field. It screens at the Civic Theatre on Thursday and Friday. It was published first in 1927 in a volume of Hemlngway stories titled "Men Without Women." "The Killers" was singled but immediately for special acclaim. One critic said of the piece: "It will always be good, even when the style - in killers has changed. Several other Hemingway stories have been filmed, such as "A Farewell to Arms;" "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "To Have and Have Not/;
