WILL GO TO MINISTER
School Committee Tired. Of Board's Inactivity Dissatisfied with the treatment it is reeeiving from the Weliixigton Education Board, the Otaki State School has decided. to. contact' the •other school committees in the dis'trict and ask them to join a/deputation to the Minister of Education. . . * At a meeting of the committee on Tuesday night, much criticism of the board's methods of dealing with requests was forthcoming from members. The board had promised that certain wbrks- woul'd be carried out and that .early consideration' would be given to various other matters of interest to the school. ' The provision of a. swimming pool was mentioned and on several occasions ' the board had agreed that something would be done if the committee helped in the work. The committee had, some two years ago, raised £200 towards the ^ work, when the board stated that r concrete was not available. Since - then, however, it had been ascertained that the board ' was installing swimming baths in -other ' places, and the committee considered it was being unfairly treated. Members of the board had visited - Otaki and made promises, but these .had not been fulfilled. The matter of a dental clinic had been under eonsideration for some time and if was suggested that the boa'rd be asked to call for tenders. So disappointed was the committee, that it was suggested that a deputation wait on the board, but after discussion it was agree'd that other committees in the district be contacted and asked to join a deputation, not to the board, but to the ' Minister of Education, it being considered that this was the only wa y to deal with the board.
