For the second time ih the history Of Palmerston North civic governmeht ahd the hrst time ifi 27 years, an^electfed memb'er of the1 Gity COuncil has had tb resigh hi^ seat under Section 3 of the Ldcal Authorities (Memb'ers' Contracts)' Act, 1934. The councillor cbricerntd is Mri LrTi - PlimmtFi?, a member o'f a private company which, prior to the date of c.ouncil nominatipns, received an' ordef from the City Co'Uhcil for £18 worth of materialS for use on the municipal domain dt Pohafigma. The obiigatioris of contract were fiot. fully performed and the ainount due not hxed at the date of the election. Mr. Plimmer has tendered his lesignatibn on the grounds that ori election day he was npt eligible to siand for election. The. Audito.rGenerai, to whom he referred the matter, r'uled that a breach of the legulations undoubtedly existed. Mr. Plimmer was placed fourth at the pail for. co.ytncillors.
