h Eight Point Wins To Levin And Weraroa ; The chief feature of Saturday's : games in the Horo whenua senior cricket championship were the eight point wins;, secufed by Levin . and Wpraroa over Otaki and Shan- ' non. respectively. OM Boys and College beat Foxton and Paraparaumu, both five pointers. Weraroa v. Shannon Weraroa had a fine eight-pointer over Shannon, taking the horiours by an innings and 24 runs. Shannon batted first and were dismissed for 69, B. Harris being the only batsman to withstand the bowling. Barraud headed the Weraroa attack, accounting for six wickets at a cost of 23 'runs. Weraroa had made 183 for the loss of five wickets when they declared. Keenan (67 not out) and Barraud (60) turned in excellent kno'cks and were responsible for Weraroa's impressive total. Shannon again went to the wickets and, made a further 90 before the last wicket fell, advancing their total to 159. Otaki Levin beat Otaki by three wickets and 12 runs in a two innings- game, thus securing an eight-point win. In the first innings, Otaki were 'dismissed for "38, Merwood contributing 18. Bowling for Levin, Judd took six wickets for 20. Levin replied with 77,. the highlight of the day being the batting of F. Baumber, who knocked up 44 runs. Bowling honours went to Bartosh who ca.ptured nine of Levin's wickets for 22 runs.' In the eighth over, he performed - the "hat trick," and in his total of nine overs two wefe maidens. . In thsir second innings, Otaki notched 94 runs, of which Rice supplied 27 and Favell 24. Gentry tcok six wickets for 33 runs. Levin was thus left to make 56 to win. Baumber, who had prove'd the mainstay of the team in the first innings, went out for 13. Judd also made 13, Walker 10 not out and Thomas 9 not out. Other players soon knocked up the additional runs andf Levin finally declared with seven wickets for 67. Bartosh again came to the fore, taking four wickets for 18 runs.
