WELLINGTON, This Ua yv With the' hard racing encountered at the three day meeting of the Wellington Club's fixture just concluded, several of the Trentham and Awapuni horses nominated for the Pahiatua meeting at Woodville tomorr.ow,, were so ^ffected by the solid programme they went through at Trentham, that the scratcjhing pen on acceptance . night for Pahiatua was exceptionally busy — so much so that the fields thinned down considerably. However, with the exception of a few races handy fields should go / to the post and the racing be interesting. 1

The prih"cipal events affected for class are the President's and Newmarket Handicaps, the two open races. With W. J. -Broughton in the saddle Tremello, the topweight in the President's Handicap, will be a firm favourite and certainly will not lack for horsemanship. Although he failed in his only start at Trentham over hurdles, Trermello i's very fit and should be a good prospect. Emerge has disappointe'd ,in the immediate past, but from all accounts is well forward and considered in certain quarters to hold a good chance. The Stormovik disappointed in the concluding event at Trentham last Saturday, but that is not his true form and if in the galloping mood will - keep the field busy. Prince Wanaka is returning to his best form and due for a win any time. He is very fit and his track work thi's week alone gives him an excellent chance. As soon as Sakuntala settles -down to giving of her best she will be a source to contend with. Lady Burford disappointed in the Ashhurst Cup, but she must not be condemned on that failure. She might make amends tomorrow. It is a poor field engaged in the Newmarket Handicap, only seven accepting. Red Herring looks the outstanding prospect with Broughton up, the strongest opposition being Trig Point and Lady Delight. Prospects for Pahiatua, Wairoa and Forbury Trots are:
