Big Trentham Race To Desert Fox
The Wellington Racing Club's summer meeting was continued at Trentham yesterday in fine weather and there was a very large attendance. JUasfc Anniversary Day the totalisator investments amounted to £250,117 and yesterday the turnover was £247,186 10s after there had heen a £10,000 decrease on the first race. Tlxe .course was in excellent order (iollowing the, rain but' tlxe going was not as fast as aixticipated. Kuimg jyioment Jumped Briiiiantly. Ruling Moment was oixe of the favourites for the hurdles and his brilliant jumping was worth lengths to him at every f'ence. He was in front all the way and he won as he ' liked by iive lexxgths fronx Incident, which xnoved up half a uxile from home after a very sound exhibition of jumping. On Tinxe was two lengths awav third and he stuek on gamely to beat Tremello whieh made two bad juinps and was never really in the picture over tlxe last mile. Easy For Sweet Nymph. Sweet JS'ymph was backed as uxxbeat able in the trloainixxg Btakes and aftex uiovmg xxp to be in elose attendance on the paceuxaker, fcsiy Gola, at the home turn she ran to tlxe front and won briiiiantly by four lengths from Foxbav whieh, after galloping fast into second plaee, hung ou gamely to beat the fast finishing Benowned by half a length Distinction ran a good race for fourth and Kartikeya, after beixxg one of theearly leaders, was lifth. The pace was sound all through and better tlxan tht tiixxe would indicate. Mesalliance Beat Sea Fury. Mesailiance won the January Handieap by the best part of a lengtlx' from Sea Fury, also from Awapuni, and Selas ran another grand race for third nxoney. Sun Burix, iSelas, Sea Fury and Becalm began best and when the field had settled down W. J. Broughton had Mesalliance with Patnxos, Becalm and Palm Beare-r ixx about fiftlx place. Selas, Suix Burn, Mesalliance and Sea Fury were all well in tlxe picture on the home turn where Selas lieaded' Suu Burn. Then Mesalliance and Sea Fury weixt past Selas and Mesalliance, after Sea Fury had made a brilliaixt run, drew away over the final bit to win by nearly a length. Selas was t'hree lengths away third, Night School was close up fourtlx and next were Flying Dink, Sun Burn and Kevivre. . Tenor Boyal Finished Smoothly. Tenor Boyal, trained at Marton, von the Camp Iiandicap decisively from Bobby Bazzler which just got up to beat Daxvn March. At the mile Mine Host aixd Kelmont were leadixig from Bobby Bazzler, Horouta, Tenor Boyal and Beechwood. Bunning to the half uxile Tenor Boyal moved up to be with Dawn March in close attendance on Mine Host and Kelmont at the lxoiye turn. Once heads were turned for home L'enor Boyal moved to the froxit and won easily by two lengths. Bobby Bazzler was second a lxead in t'roxxt of Bawn March and next were Beechwood and Horouta. BriUiant Run By Desert Fox. With a brilliant and sustained run Besert Fox got up to win the Wellington Bacing Club Handicap by a ueck from Silver Treasure which finished fast a head in front of iLangue d 'Or , which just beat Yasda. It was a thrilling finish and the judge called for photographs for the first four places. At the mile Boyal Tan w'as. leading fx'om Boyal Victor, Oatte'tick- Bri'dge, inxperial, Spare Part, Begal PraLse, Laugue d'Or, Bxlnbar and Broiefield, and the pace was right on as they xaced to the lxalf mile wlxefe Bunbar went up-to-joi-n- Boval Tan and (latterick Bridge. in close ' attendance were Spare Part, Yasda, Langue d'Or and Silver Treasure. A furiong from lxoxxxe Yasda looked' likely, but ovet tlxq last bit Besert Fox, Silver Treasure, and Langue d 'Or joined issue and Besert Fox won by a xxeck from' Silver Treasure just ixx front of the stablemates Langue d'Or and Yasda. Spare Part was next. Good. Effort By Vadoz. With a graud sustaixxed run from tlxe home tuxyi the Woodville owned and trained Yadoz won the Nursery Hanulcap after being under pressure over the last bit to meet the fine challexxge from BJue Sea!. Two lengths away were irresistible, B.obln Bedbreast, Luxxxinous, Begal Gold and Hasty Glance at head and half head intervals. Citril Was Not Headed. Cilril led always in the Metropolitan Handicap and, under pressure over the last furiong, ' stuck on gamely to beat The Pagaix by fhe best part of a length. Aggravation, always with the leaders, hung on for third two" lengths away from The Pagan, and Ladyship, weli back early, was only a head away fourth. Wantwood, after atteixding Citril to the straight, was fifth. Majesty was last away and, under pressure a long way from home, he never ilattered lxis baekers. Miss Baixnsfather and Broie. There was another close fiixish in the Bouro Handicap and Miss Bairnsfather and Broie shared the honours a neck in front of Bay Fort. Oban, False Step, Cairn Courage, Belumpago, Bevivre, Balcairn, Mister Beau, Broie, Square Biixk and Blanb Cheque was the order early and Square Bink and False Step, Belampago, Betrieve, Oban, Angell and .Miss Bairns father were proixxinent in the run tc the straight. A furiong from home Misx Bairnsfather reached the front and Oban, Blank Cheque, Broie and Bay Fort issued clxalleuges. Miss Bairns father finished with the courage expected of her but Bfoie, with a grand run. graduallv closed on her and got up in tixne to dead heat.
