Little Juvenile Labour Till 1952
! WELLINGTON, Jan. 23. , It'is calculated that it will be 1952 before there will be sufficient young people available to fill all the jobs oue: ing, according to Wel- • lington sources interested in vocational guidance. There are signs, however, that more parents are favouring apprentice -hip for their children rather than the short term advantages of initial high wages offered : for un.skiiled work. , Since the war, the demand for ooys and girls in all branehes of business and industry has increased far beyond the supply, and the shortage is stated to have been aggravated by the smaller number of young people available, because of the reduced birthdate during the depression.
