Gallops At Awapuni
The course proper was cipeix - for fast work at Awapuni yesterday andthe going was better than it has "been for months. The flags were about 30 f eet out and the taanes were fast. ' Great interest was taken in the trials, and the featUre' gallops , included those Qf Prince ^ Wanaka and Imperial over a mile, Mesalli- • ance and r.airhome " over .a.mile* Arctic Circle over a. mile, Argumen-' tative and Currency Lass oyer ftve,. and Harleyholm over half-a-mile. ' . Aniong the flrst to work . were. alliance (A'. Bowness) and. Faixlvome . (j. Hely) and;, the pace Was on from the start. They covexed the first -fivein 1.6 and were home in 40 1-5 to eomplete in 1.46 1-5. It was a' good'gallop. Mesallianee will race at- Trentham tomorrow and he will be xidden by W. J. Broughtou* Blank Cheque, looking none the worse for his race on Saturday, sprinted tive in better than 1.6, breaking 39 for the last three. , ' Reveller and Plare Path • Reveller (A. Wagner) and Flafe Path (Amcy) followed and were home from the tliree in 39 to cover flve in 1.6. - Refleet sprinted three being timed to run the last two in 26 2-5. Foxflame (Tattersall) and Bright Side (W. L. Aitken) worked really well over severi, being timed to run the last six in 1.20 2-5. Lord Holland worked once round, being joined by Good Music for the last five in 1.8 2-5. Harleyholm Worked Smoothly Harleyholm, which will be ridden by V. J. Sellars in the Nursery Handicap at Trentham, was sprinted half-a-mile, running the last three in 37 4-5 to complete in 51.1-5. , . Lady Oratory (B. Borham) and Corolack (L. J. Clutterbuek) wefthome in 40 1-5 to cover five in 1.8. Tremello, which will be ridden by A. G. Waddell in tbe hurdles at Trentham, was given a working gallop and was nol after time when running the last five in 1.10. ' Devastate (R. Saunders) and Perdita (Aitken) began slowly but were going well at ihe end of half-a-mile, the last three in 38 3-5. Arctic Circle worked really well ovei a mile, being timed to cover the last six in 1.19 3-5, last three in 39 2-5. Currency Lass (Tattersall) sprinted five in 1.5 3-5, last three in 39 2-5. Argumentative covered five in 1.5 3-5, the last three in 39. Newel Post (F. C. Cleaver)) and Shenandoah (S. Waddell) covered the. last six of seven in 1.22 1-5, the .pace being even througliout, Prince Wanaka and Imperial , Prince Wanaka (Aitken) worked with Imperial (Tattersall) over a mile and was" in front at the finish after running the distance in 1.46 3-5, last three in 40 2-5. Afton Water (Amey) and Nighthena (Cleaver) were away from the five just after Prince Wanaka and Imperial and Shenandoah finislied with Prince Wanaka. Dickens and- Revelate rau five in 1.6.
